(HYBRID CROSS: English Shepherd x Australian Kelpie/Border Collie Mix

HISTORY: Dakotah Shepherds are a relatively new breed started by Triple M Kennel in South Dakota.  The breed was originally

started to make the ultimate farm dog.  Starting with a Heeler, Australian Kelpie, and Border Collie mix for the herding instincts

, the English Shepherd was then added for personality and protective instincts, and the breed has become very popular for both

working dogs and family members.

DECRIPTION:  Colors are usually black/ tan, but also sables, black/white, and other colors will be noted as I get more breeding

lines started.  Many have blazes and white feet with short to medium coats.  Some seasonal shedding in spring and warm temperatures.  Average 35-50 lbs and 17" to 21" in height at maturity.

TEMPERAMENT:  Gentle, patient and great with kids! These are intelligent, sensitive dogs and some puppies may be shy and timid but often outgrow it with patience and love from their families.  Just as any dog, love and attention brings out the best of their personalities and you will find a very loyal and loving dog in return! They are very patient and will wait for their families to return without tearing up the house or chewing through doors, etc.  They are not yappy or barky,  but generally very quiet dogs.

USES:  Great on the farm or in town.  Extremely intelligent and easy to train, flexible for herding, therapy or makes a great family

pet. Generally good with other pets and animals. The perfect companion! Protective and obedient, not aggressive towards strangers

but may hold them at bay until given the "ok".
